PETER FARLEY (DESIGNER)
PENRHYN QUARRY, MAINLINE HUNSLET – CHARLES, BLANCHE & LINDA – 32mm (45mm at an extra cost)
Built by the Hunslet Engine Company, Leeds in 1893 (works No. 590) for mainline service on the Penrhyn Quarry Railway, at a cost of £800. Linda was sent from Hunslet on 6th July 1893, named after Linda Blanche Douglas-Pennant (1889-1965), the daughter of Edward Sholto and Blanche Georgina Douglas-Pennant. Sister engine Blanche was named after her mother and together they are also known as the Ladies.
The plan is to build the Mainline Hunslet in all of its 0-4-0 variations (due to length restrictions of our printers), including:-
CHARLES, BLANCHE, LINDA (0-4-0 as at Penrhyn)
***** LINDA (0-4-0 as on FR with tender & reprofiled cab roof) *****
BLANCHE (0-4-0 as on FR with tender-cab, slide valves & reprofiled cab roof)
(Possibly BLANCHE as 0-4-0 with piston valves)
***** This LINDA variation is likely to be the first of these models available *****
Variants of the above will also be available on request, for example – LINDA with tender and PQR cab roof profile.
Prices to follow.
